Job Description:

This position is accountable for managing the basic respiratory needs of patients throughout the Hospital with consistency and a minimal degree of independence under the direction of the Medical Director. The incumbent delivers patient care in an efficient manner within the scope of the Respiratory Care Practice Act and Valley Children's Healthcare policies.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree (required)
  • Program AMA approved respiratory care program (required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner License - RCB - Respiratory Care Board of California (required)
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist - NBRC - National Board for Respiratory Care (required)
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 12 months of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program - AHA - American Heart Association NICU only
  • required prior to hire or transfer into position within 12 months of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • Demonstrated basic mathematical calculation skills and understanding of age/cultural principles
  • RCP staff will have attended NICU Intermediate Core class prior to starting orientation to the satellite units (NNN, HNN, and MNN)

  • NPS - Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty - NPS - Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty Certification (preferred)
