Job Description

We are looking for a Freelance Raw Materials Manager for a top fashion company in New York, New York. This is a hybrid position based out of the New York office, 3 days onsite and 2 days working remotely per week. 6+month contract. Hourly pay rate $46/hour based on experience.

Job Responsibility

  • Support RM Director to create and maintain seasonal raw material portfolios
  • Monitor developments, troubleshoot issues and facilitate solutions when possible
  • Closely communicate with manager and Hub teams / mills to resolve any issues / delays and minimize quality problems
  • Gather and review fabric submits, FDS sheets, and test reports
  • Maintain physical fabric records, presentation boards, and digital database / PLM / Centric
  • Assess and call-out high risk fabric developments as part of Stage 1 risk assessment
  • Daily communication with cross-functional teams, overseas mills
  • Work closely with Sourcing team in order to deliver timely proto & salesman samples
  • Check all fabric details for correct quality, finish, and color prior to ordering bulk
  • Other related duties / special projects as required

Requirements

  • Experience with raw materials sourcing or development
  • Fabric or textile background experience
  • Technical experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree in Textiles, Design, or related field strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required
  • Basic technical understanding of textiles required
  • Web PLM preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Deadline-driven with a strong sense of urgency and accuracy
