As a Raw Materials Manager, you will provide central technical governance and assurance for raw materials, ensuring food safety, integrity, compliance and risk visibility through robust standards, horizon scanning, audit activity and effective escalation across the supply base.
Job Responsibility
Support central raw material technical governance frameworks by setting expectations, providing assurance and overseeing consistent application of Group, customer and legal standards
Provide central oversight of raw material risk assessments, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, challenged and escalated appropriately, with clear mitigation actions in place
Support central coordination of raw material incident investigation by reviewing evidence, maintaining governance records and recommending system-level corrective actions
Support horizon scanning for raw materials by monitoring regulatory, industry, customer and scientific intelligence, translating insight into clear risk and impact assessments for the business
Maintain and continuously improve central raw material governance documentation and the Technical, Integrity and Compliance (TIC) Knowledge Hub to ensure clarity, accessibility and control
Provide central assurance through oversight of raw material traceability testing, reviewing outcomes and escalating gaps in due diligence or integrity controls
Provide authoritative technical reporting and governance input for internal, customer and regulatory audits, ensuring transparency of raw material risks and controls
Requirements
Excellent technical background in chilled food and/or food manufacturing
Extensive understanding of food safety risk assessment and quality management systems
Experience conducting and reviewing technical audits within food supply chains
Knowledge of UK retail technical standards and regulatory requirements
Ability to interpret technical, regulatory and industry intelligence into governance insights
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence to challenge and escalate
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and governance discipline
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (desirable)
