Responsible for the raw material planning and purchasing activities needed to support the production of all finished goods for the manufacturing facility. The position maintains communication channels with suppliers, internal customers and the Purchasing Department, and is accountable for the coordination of raw material orders, inventory levels, expedite/prioritize release, safety stock positions, disposition of materials and identification of cost reduction initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Directly supports the procurement and disposition of raw materials in response to MRP and Manufacturing requirements
Obtain materials in economic order quantities that improve value and minimize total cost
Assist in the annual standard costing process and provide price forecasts
Supports materials management systems, plant projects and sustaining of contract terms and conditions with suppliers
Establish and maintain effective communication with all levels within Baxter
Monitor and disposition obsolete parts and supplier returns for rejected products and help resolve supplier's quality issues
Monitor changes to assigned commodities to alert purchasing management and the Division to major price/availability fluctuations
Develop knowledge of production planning in order to be the Finished Goods Planner Backup
Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
Identify and inform manager of excess, slow move and obsolete inventory issues
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field
3+ years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or inventory management within a manufacturing environment
Must not be allergic to Penicillin, Cephalosporin, or related products
Experience working in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environments, with a strong understanding of quality standards, SOPs, and compliance expectations
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with proven ability to handle inventory levels, address material shortages, and support cost‑efficient operations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
able to collaborate effectively across departments in a complex, matrixed organization
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong overall systems/ERP competency
Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and the ability to work with urgency and accuracy in a fast‑paced setting
