Job Description

We're looking for a friendly and motivated Rates Officer to join our team! If you're a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a passion for helping the community, this is a fantastic opportunity for you. You'll be at the heart of our day-to-day operations for rates and collections activities, playing a key role in maintaining our records and assisting community members with their queries. You'll need the ability to work independently while also being part of a well-developed team environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Processing updates for building permits, subdivisions, and consolidations, and reviewing planning permits for changes in how properties are used
  • Giving crucial administrative and clerical support to the Rates and Revenue teams, including helping with basic valuation tasks
  • Answering ratepayer inquiries on the phone and in person, giving clear advice, and preparing written responses
  • Keeping the council's property, rates, and valuation database up to date, including day-to-day changes of ownership and address
  • Processing Land Information Certificates quickly and efficiently, and creating new property records for unit developments
  • Helping process account refunds, financial adjustments, and waste service requests

Requirements

  • Experience in Local Government property, rates, and valuations is highly desirable
  • Pathway experience is desired but not essential
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Experience working in local government highly desirable
