They leverage diverse expertise to shape the future of medicine by delivering innovative and trusted therapies. This role leads Japan's commercial and business intelligence strategy, driving team alignment, patient-centered outcomes, and evaluating in-licensing opportunities for growth.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee all aspects of the commercial function in the Japan office, including product strategy, sales forecasting, budgeting, and P&L management
  • Manage and supervise marketing team members while collaborating with other key functions, such as medical affairs, business intelligence, and R&D
  • Use expertise in marketing and market access to develop strategies that address unmet medical needs, support successful product registration, and increase patient access to treatments
  • Represent the marketing function to senior cross-functional leadership and key external stakeholders
  • Evaluate potential in-license compounds for alignment with corporate strategy and commercial viability
  • Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), government officials, and healthcare organizations, monitoring important developments in the field
  • Promote collaboration between marketing and other departments, updating senior management on activities
  • Develop strategic plans for new product launches and sustaining current products
  • Foster a positive, engaged team environment within the commercial team and cross-functional partners

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Advanced degree is preferable
  • 10+ years of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience supporting rare disease or oncology portfolios is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in team management
  • Well-regarded reputation and established network within the industry
  • Extensive commercial experience with successful achievements in life cycle management of medicines
  • Business development experience from a commercial perspective
  • Strong leadership, managerial, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills across functions
  • Solid people management skills and a passion for team development
  • Highly collaborative, confident, and with strong executive presence
  • Strategic thinker, innovative, able to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously, and perform under pressure
  • Ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders
  • Goal-oriented, energetic, and enthusiastic
  • Eager to learn, adaptable, and open to new technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Japan's healthcare system and regulatory environment
