Organization 05419, Kauai Test Facility & Remote Ranges, is currently seeking a qualified R&D Electrical Engineer to join their unique team as a Range Systems Electrical Engineer! The selected candidate's job will involve leading the design, planning, and execution of range electrical systems to support flight test missions for customers and assisting with managing our networks. The successful candidate will need to be self-directed, innovative, organized, and possess well-developed interpersonal communications skills as well as in-depth technical engineering knowledge and experience. The candidate will also describe complex concepts to fellow technical staff to facilitate project definition and completion. On any given day, one may be called upon to: Work in a team environment and provide both electrical engineering and network expertise for rocket launch systems; Support sub-system and system level electrical design, fabrication, testing, assembly, and integration projects; Work with system level engineers/system owners to develop interface and compatibility definitions in support of range system development; Solve technical challenges with short suspense time as well as work on long-term technical solutions involving legacy systems. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Some travel is required for this position supporting ground and flight test fielding operations at remote ranges.
Job Responsibility

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
Nice to have
Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement
Ability to work independently and collaborate well in a multidisciplinary team of designers and test engineers
Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant STEM field
Proven experience in system or sub-system level design, development, assembly, analyses, and testing
A willingness to complete required training and work around ordnance and explosives systems
Experience with firesets
an understanding of explosives systems and safety requirements for ordnance systems
A strong background in understanding and working with level 2 switch fabrics
Willingness to process and meet cyber security requirements and security controls
Software and computer programming experience
Knowledge and experience with Rocket Systems
A solid understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools
The ability to travel frequently for extended periods in support of fielding operations (~4-8 times a year, 1-3 weeks duration)
Experience with electrical cable set design and test
Familiarity with hardware requirements generation for verification, validation, and qualification
Active DOE Q-level (or DOD equivalent) security clearance
