Job Description:

We’re looking for an experienced Rail Vehicle Body Production Engineer to help deliver the next generation passenger rail fleet for QLD. In this role, you will drive production engineering activities related to carbody structures, ensuring designs are manufacturable, processes are efficient, and production targets are met. You’ll work closely with design engineering, fabrication teams, suppliers, and quality assurance to ensure that the railcar shells are produced to spec. A strong understanding of welding and fabrication processes is highly recommended.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the fabrication and assembly of rail carbody structures, ensuring work meets quality and safety requirements
  • Translate engineering drawings into practical manufacturing steps and shop floor instructions
  • Assist in developing and improving welding and fabrication processes, tooling, and workflows
  • Identify and resolve production issues, collaborating with engineering, quality, and operations
  • Participate in inspections and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the production area

Requirements:

  • Relevant Trade or Engineering Qualification
  • Understanding of welding processes and materials engineering
  • Experience in carbody production within rail sector, automotive or heavy industry
