Are you a detail-oriented Engineer with a passion for precision? We are looking for a Test Technician to join the world-class Hitachi Rail team in Newton Aycliffe. This isn't just routine maintenance; you will be at the forefront of rail innovation, responsible for the complex fault-finding and validation of fleet trains. If you take pride in your technical accuracy and want to work on some of the most advanced rail vehicles in the UK, we want to hear from you.

Job Responsibility:

  • Testing & Validation: Performing routine and complex testing on fleet trains to ensure safety and performance
  • Complex Fault-Finding: Using engineering drawings and specialised tools (Rapier) to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Technical Collaboration: Working alongside Lead Technicians and Engineers to investigate failures and provide critical technical feedback
  • Quality Maintenance: Ensuring all work meets the rigorous standards expected of world-class rail manufacturing

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Essential)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • Background in fault-finding, maintenance, or validation
  • Strong verbal and written skills for reporting technical failures

Nice to have:

  • Rail experience
  • Mechanical and Electrical engineering background
