Job Description:

Radiology Technologist- Full Time 2nd Shift position at Advocate Sherman Hospital. Responsible for operating x-ray equipment and performing diagnostic procedures.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operates x-ray equipment to produce radiographs
  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability and operation of all general radiography, portable, fluoro, C-arm and O-arm equipment
  • Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, GI, Pain, Urology, C-arm and O-arm procedures
  • Adheres to infection prevention, isolation and sterile techniques
  • Adheres to ALARA principles
  • Utilizes proper patient identification
  • Obtains and records pertinent patient history, explains the procedure to patient
  • Adherence to department standards of radiographic quality
  • Reviews radiographs to ensure optimum quality
  • Reports environmental/equipment problems
  • Performs required computer function for RIS/HIS systems
  • Labels all radiographs appropriately
  • Consistently maintains an attitude of professionalism, teamwork and collaboration
  • Consistently provides positive interactions and a customer first approach
  • Participates in assessment of own learning needs
  • Attends in-services
  • Attends CPR classes
  • Maintains appropriate state license and national board certification
  • Maintenance of supplies
  • Ensures cleanliness of equipment and work area
  • Maintains inventory of supplies
  • Uses Universal Precautions

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology
  • Current ARRT (RT) Certification
  • 1 year experience and proficient in the performance of general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, GI, Pain, Urology, C-arm and O-arm procedures
  • Good communication skills
  • Understanding of RIS & PACS
  • Ability to work under stressful situations
  • Ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes to meet patient care and department needs
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work rotating shift any day of the week
  • Ability to take call and arrive on site within one hour
  • Required to maintain current CPR certification
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
