Job Responsibility

  • Perform routine diagnostic imaging procedures in support of the assigned area and as requested by a licensed medical provider
  • Responsible for adhering to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure patient safety
  • May provide clerical support for the assigned department, including, but not limited to, filing, maintaining records, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and entering data into the computer

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Sciences or a Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Program
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
  • ARRT or registry eligible
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate issued by the State of NM
  • Candidates with a temporary license must obtain a permanent license within one year of hire

Nice to have

  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • One (1) year of related experience in a hospital setting

  • IL hires must be students from an accredited radiology program and in 2nd year of clinical training
  • No experience required

  • Supports imaging technologists with preparation of patient and examination room prior to, during, and following imaging procedures in accordance with established infection control practices
  • Organizes and prepares exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, and maintaining equipment
  • Verifies patient identification using two identifiers and communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding and address any questions about the imaging procedure
  • Assists patient in preparation for exam and transferring patients to and from exam rooms
  • Independently transports patients to other areas of the facility as required
  • Uses the radiology computer systems to generate requisitions, check schedules, and obtain pertinent patient information
  • Reviews patients medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, obtains necessary clinical information from patients, and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations following accepted radiation protection and safety practices under the direct supervision of a licensed radiographer
  • Ensures that images and other patient records are accurately documented, following approved workflows, in SmartChart, RIS and PACS in a timely manner
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
