As our Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech), you will be pivotal in producing diagnostic images that enable Radiologists to accurately diagnose and manage patient conditions. Each day, you will perform a variety of imaging examinations, including X-rays, ultrasound, diagnostic fluoroscopy, CT/CAT scans, and MRIs, while actively contributing to a positive patient experience through direct interaction. To excel, you must deeply understand diagnostic imaging's critical importance, encompassing expertise in workflow, patient positioning, and capturing precise results essential for timely and accurate diagnoses.
Job Responsibility:
Perform a variety of imaging examinations, including X-rays, ultrasound, diagnostic fluoroscopy, CT/CAT scans, and MRIs
Perform complete diagnostic imaging tests on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocols under the direction of the Medical Director
Obtain and document patient history
Prepare equipment ensuring that equipment is operational, safe and functioning according to diagnostic standards
Perform periodic QA and ensure requisite documentation
Problem solve equipment failure and contact Lead Technologist regarding equipment problems
Ensure that daily equipment and room maintenance are performed before/during/ after each procedure, and that special precautions and measures are performed to ensure infection control standards
Complete all quality checks and ensure that equipment logs are maintained
Complete all clinical supply inventories, ensuring that each diagnostic room is complete with the necessary supplies required to perform the procedure
Actively participate with patient testing, performing urgent, emergent patient requests, routine and non-routine requests and OR procedures requiring radiographic support
Demonstrate competency in the PACS process and perform the daily PACS QA process and requirements
Communicate with Nursing, Physicians, Patient Care Assistants, Laboratory staff, administrative staff, other diagnostic areas and departments to ensure that the patients receive their diagnostic procedures in a smooth, efficient and safe manner
Perform portable examinations when applicable at the bedside to ensure patient safety as well as provide immediate diagnostic testing when needed
Assist with patient scheduling when required liaising with other departments as needed
Ensure that patient orientation, patient preparation (including starting IV’s and drawing labs as necessary), and patient teaching is provided prior, during and following the test completion
Review the physician order to verify the type of diagnostic exam requested and that the indication for the procedure is consistent
Complete exams in RIS system for accurate billing
Communicate when corrections are needed
Provide specific diagnostic test information to the patient ensuring that the patient is aware of the test involvement
Obtain necessary written consent and understanding for any specific procedures
Obtain and document patient history according to specific departmental procedural protocols
Complete the diagnostic examination according to specific departmental procedural protocols
Obtain assistance with any diagnostic procedures which are not completed, or if there are any patient care issues
Requirements:
Medical Radiographer: TX, upon hire
Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, upon hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified, issued by the American Heart Association, upon hire
