Job Description

This position will cover 1st shift hours as needed for hospital operations. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. Holidays include 1 summer shift and 1 winter shift. Minimum call required. Ability to operate portable equipment. Ability to deal with extremely ill patients. Ability to communicate with patients. Ability to adjust to flexible work hours. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and emergency call-back. Ability to participate in “on-call” program and available to department needs with minimal notice. Ability to do light, medium or heavy lifting. Exposed to radiation. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, such as film processing chemicals.

Job Responsibility

  • Determines appropriate radiographic technique and positions patients using immobilization and support devices to ensure optimum film quality
  • Operation of radiographic, fluoroscopic, portable, computed radiography and PACS equipment to ensure quality examinations
  • Adherence to department standards of radiographic quality
  • Delivery of patient care and in accordance with department standards of continued quality improvement
  • Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining continued awareness of safety hazards
  • Development of leadership skills and professionalism for self through participation in department and/or hospital-based committees and continuing education programs

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology
  • Licensed Radiographic Technologist by the IDNS/IEMA
  • CPR Certification
  • ARRT Registry eligible
  • Knowledge of Radiology Information Computer System
  • Ability to anticipate patient, employee and department needs and refer for action
  • Good communication skills
  • Previous radiology experience is desirable
  • Ability to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated
