Job Description:

An opportunity exists for a Billing Supervisor to join Austin Health on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis, covering a period of parental leave. This is an excellent opportunity to lead an established team and make an immediate impact. Reporting to the Radiology & MIT Business Manager, this role is responsible for supervising the Medicare billing functions, ensuring billing processes are accurate, timely and compliant with Medicare, TAC, WorkCover, private health fund requirements.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervising the Medicare billing functions
  • Ensuring billing processes are accurate, timely and compliant with Medicare, TAC, WorkCover, private health fund requirements
  • Providing day‑to‑day leadership to a small team of billing staff
  • Overseeing workload allocation and validation
  • Monitoring billing performance
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across billing processes and documentation

Requirements:

  • Experience supervising or leading a small administrative team
  • Strong organisational, time‑management and problem‑solving skills
  • Confidence working across multiple systems, including intermediate Excel skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and reporting tools such as Power BI
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A commitment to quality, accuracy and Austin Health values

Nice to have:

  • Experience in patient billing or healthcare administration
  • Familiarity with Medicare billing processes or public hospital environments
