Job Description:

Responsible for producing high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner. Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies. Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use if immobilization devices when warranted

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepares room and patient per order, properly sets up equipment, position patients, and determine proper exposure factors in order to produce a high-quality image
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider
  • Maintains appropriate supplies in the x-ray rooms
  • Produces a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly
  • Completes and bills for studies accurately
  • At an advanced level, may train new employees or lead day to day work activities

Requirements:

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • Maintains current NYS licensure and ARRT certification with CE credits as required

Nice to have:

  • 18 months of progressively responsible professional work experience in an Imaging Sciences setting for Band Two
  • 4 years of progressively responsible professional work experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a clinical or hospital environment for Band Three
