Radiologic Technologist position at Advocate South Suburban Hospital. Responsible for working weekends, holidays and call. Major responsibilities include patient requisitions, patient/customer contact, performance of procedure and radiation safety, assisting others, and adhering to safety policies. Must meet physical requirements and working conditions, including lifting and communication skills. Includes addendum related to patient safety practices.
Job Responsibility:
Obtain and examine requisition for every exam
Question patient before procedure to obtain a pertinent history
Screen and document possible pregnancy on all female patients of child-bearing age
Document history, pregnancy with time and initials
Attempt to understand patient's needs and respond accordingly
Introduce self and explain procedure to every patient
Select proper film and place proper markers on cassettes
Use lead gonadal shield or provide protective apparel
Position x-ray equipment at proper distance and angle
Demonstrate competence in required positioning of anatomy
Review patient’s condition and determine the proper exposure factor
Demonstrate willingness and ability to assist others as requested
Maintain annual CPR certification
Operate all equipment in a safe manner
Use Universal Precautions to protect self from bodily fluid exposure
Make sure IDNS and ARRT licensure remains current
Report patient safety events and near misses in timely fashion
Adhere to all behavioral and procedural patient safety practices
Promote culture of safety
Communicate openly and promote team work
Report intimidating behavior and other threats to patient safety promptly
Requirements:
Graduate of approved radiology technology school
General knowledge of x-ray equipment, including portables
IDNS registry eligible
CPR certified
Able to adjust to flexible hours
Able to lift, push, pull 50 lbs. with assistance
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
