As a Radiation Therapist, you will be a central figure in the oncology care team, meticulously delivering prescribed courses of radiation therapy to cancer patients, ensuring accuracy and therapeutic effectiveness. You will play a vital role in providing compassionate care, supporting patients through their treatment journeys, and contributing directly to their fight against cancer. Every day, you will expertly operate linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment, accurately positioning patients and carefully administering radiation treatments according to the physician's prescription and treatment plan. You will also provide essential patient education and psychological support, monitor patients for side effects, maintain meticulous treatment records, and perform daily quality assurance checks on equipment, all while strictly adhering to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines. Ensuring the deliver of specific prescribed radiation treatment procedures
Use of photon and electron beams
Performance of simulation procedures, dosimetry, calculations, and delivery of ionizing radiation
Requirements
Must possess and maintain a current Therapeutic Radiology license issued by the state of California (RRTT)
Must possess and maintain one of the following certificates: Current Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT (RTR), Registered Technologist Bone Densitometry (RTBD), Registered Technologist Computed Tomography (RTCT), Registered Technologist Cardio Interventional Radiography (RTCV), Registered Technologist Mammography (RTM), Registered Technologist Magnetic Resonance Imaging (RTMR), Registered Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology (RTN), Registered Technologist Quality Management (RTQM), Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (RTT), Registered Technologist Vascular Interventional Rad (RTVI), Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography (RTVS)
Must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
Demonstrated skill in the use of radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, simulators, dosimetry systems, and block cutting tools
Nice to have
Three (3) years supervisory experience in radiation oncology
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to diverse groups and individuals
Plan organize and control the work of others
Delegate responsibilities effectively
Exercise good judgment and tact in providing strong leadership guidance and assistance
Knowledge of state and federal regulations and (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) JCAHO standards
