Our client, a manufacturing company located near Dyersburg, TN is looking for an R&D Technologist to join their team.

Job Responsibility

  • Independently lead product development projects from formulation through scale up and start up
  • Conduct lab tests, pilot plant and large-scale tests within manufacturing facilities to optimize formulation and/or process
  • Manage technical timelines, provide clear and timely communication, raise issues and risks, and develop contingency plans leveraging strong project management skills
  • Analyze and interpret data to make sound technical recommendations on product and process issues
  • Prepare detailed and well-structured technical reports on the outcome of the experiments
  • Proceed with researching processes, product improvements and cost saving opportunities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product implementation, product development, scale-up, technology transfer and process characterization

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, preferably in Food Science or Nutrition
  • 2+ years of experience in food product development
  • Respond to rapidly changing requirements, targets, and expectations
  • Organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding of ingredient interactions/functionality

  • Engineer mammalian cell lines (e.g. Stable cell line generation, targeted integration and gene editing - e.g. CRISPR-based systems)
  • Generate mammalian expression vectors using state of the art assembly techniques
  • Phenotypic characterisation of edited cell lines with relevant assays (e.g. NGS, ddPCR, qPCR and flow cytometry) and cell culture techniques (e.g., shake flask/ bioreactor)
  • Collate, analyse, evaluate and sign-off data to produce good quality information and traceable records under the direction of the project lead
  • Presentation of results in written and oral reports
  • Work closely with other groups within R&D to deliver solutions or improvements in recombinant protein expression (in particular with R&D Process Development & Protein Analytics)
  • Actively keep abreast of relevant academic literature (e.g., in the field of cell engineering and expression technologies)
