Networks R&D department is looking for an R&D Energy Engineer – Power Systems.

Job Responsibility:

  • Participating/leading international Research and Development (R&D) projects primarily in the area of Power Systems
  • Leading /contributing to various aspects of project implementation, including budget management, financial and technical reporting, interaction with stakeholders, communication of project progress and outcomes, etc.
  • Writing specifications and use cases, project reports, defining systems architectures, conducting and developing laboratory and pilot validation
  • Overseeing demonstrators on site and coordinate /support field teams
  • Leading/supporting the elaboration of business cases, development of techno-economic models and innovative business models for the technology-based concepts developed
  • Leading and/or providing thorough technical expertise in the sourcing and conduction of applications for new projects/financing, writing proposals, forming international consortia, negotiating budgets, etc
  • Developing and providing expertise in new solutions and tools for use in European projects, in international consultancy projects and for business units within the EDP group
  • Support for the development Power Systems topic in the EDP group
  • Contributing to international engineering consultancy projects and service provisions

Requirements:

  • Degree, Master or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering with major/minor in Energy is preferable
  • Knowledge and / or experience in some of the following topics: Smart Grids, Microgrids, Integration of Renewables, Modern Power Systems, Power System Resilience, Energy Management Systems, Energy Storage, Electric Vehicles Grid Integration
  • Knowledge and/or experience in modern Power Systems
  • International mindset and excellent knowledge and use of English (in written and oral expression)
  • Capacity to execute and deliver rigorous and well-balanced results in a timely manner, combined with a flexibility and agility to work on various themes / projects
  • A great team spirit, openness and ability to interact daily with internal and external stakeholders on various topics
  • Good domain of Microsoft Office Tools: Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Availability for short-term international trips (within the scope of the projects)
  • Immense motivation, strong desire to learn, curiosity and a taste for challenging ideas and proposing new solutions
  • Programming experience in Python and relevant programming languages
  • Previous working experience in EU-funded projects (under FP7, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe or similar)
  • Knowledge of current Energy Policies and Strategies in Europe and initiatives and funding programs at the European Commission
