Job Responsibility:
Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks and mitigation for these
Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the outset
Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity labour targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible
Build strong client, supplier, and subcontractor relations, to ensure any variations and progress of contracts are discussed and mutual, commercially viable solutions are sought
Complete and analyse weekly reporting from site, ensuring it has adequate cost information (including labour rates and performance expectations, budgets, value, progress, quality, and safety)
Actively tender, estimate and measure onsite
Requirements:
Proven experience in a similar surveying role
Experience of the commercial ownership of projects and contracts from tender and estimation stages through to final account
Experience of working for a painting or refurbishment contractor
Experience of successfully managing commercially, a total value of works up to £2 million annually
Schedule of Rates (SORs) experience
Entrepreneurial spirit, with a key eye for identifying business opportunities, and areas for negotiation and better gains
Commercial, analytical, and accurate approach
Inquisitive, organised, and honest
Genuine ‘people person’ who thrives when collaborating with clients, trade teams and immediate colleagues
Nice to have:
Experience of working for a painting or refurbishment contractor would be very advantageous
