Job Description

The Commercial team is responsible for providing a fast and responsive service to customers, building on customer relations, and generating strategies to increase opportunities and profitability within the Surfacing Solutions business. As our next Quantity Surveyor, you will be logically minded, possess excellent organisational skills, and be confident dealing formally and informally with customers. With relevant and proven experience, you will also have excellent IT and numerical skills, the ability to work under pressure, and the drive to excel in the delivery of business objectives and targets.

Job Responsibility

  • Identify, generate, maintain and manage relationships with new and existing key clients
  • Manage opportunities and provide clients with appropriate product and service solutions to meet their requirements
  • Assist in bid-writing and the completion of pre-qualification questionnaires and submissions
  • Accurately prepare, negotiate and analyse costs for tenders and contracts
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value supplies and services, whilst establishing new and key relationships
  • Review tender results and contract performance to constantly ensure accurate and effective bids
  • Undertake contract reviews during the construction phase, on a cost value basis
  • Review and monitor progress and project delivery to anticipate and identify problems and opportunities, working collaboratively to manage these
  • Complete interim and final valuations, maximising profitability and opportunity
  • Work collaboratively with operational colleagues to ensure any work scope variations are captured and agreed with clients

Requirements

  • Qualified BSC, HNC, HND in Quantity Surveying – Desirable but not essential as formal training may be provided
  • Previous experience in the road surfacing highways maintenance sector would be an advantage but not essential
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a client facing commercial role
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • A valid UK driving licence

  • Qualified BSC, HNC, HND in Quantity Surveying
