We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can share in this growth ethos. Honesty, integrity and teamwork will be at the heart of what you do. This opportunity offers us the chance to welcome an enthusiastic, people focused and entrepreneurial Quantity Surveyor to join our dedicated commercial and operational team, who specialise in painting and decorating and associated planned refurbishment works to the public, private, residential and educational sector. Job Responsibility:
Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks
Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the outset
Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity labour targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible
Build strong client and supplier relations, to ensure any variations and progress of contracts are discussed and mutual solutions are sought, always
Complete and analyse weekly reporting from site, ensuring it has adequate cost information (including labour rates and performance expectations, budgets, value, progress, quality, and safety)
Requirements:
Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role
Experience of the commercial management of projects from tender and estimation stages through to final account
Experience of successfully managing a value of works up to £3 million annually
Entrepreneurial spirit, with a key eye for identifying business opportunities, and areas for negotiation and better gains
You will describe yourself as commercial, analytical, and accurate in your approach
You will be inquisitive, organised, and honest
A genuine ‘people person’ who thrives when collaborating with clients, trade teams and immediate colleagues
