About the Opportunity Amentum has a requirement for a motivated new member of our expanding Hinkley Point C (Bridgwater, Somerset) team, operating within the Commercial function. The Candidate will be expected to be qualified to degree level in a Commercial related discipline to support a multi-million pound framework contract. The role will be predominantly site based at Hinkley Point C, to develop working relationships with the project delivery and procurement teams and both Clients’ and Subcontractors’ representatives. They will be able to demonstrate suitable technical qualities for the role such as an excellent understanding of construction contracts and the importance of adhering to the principles of good contract management. An appreciation for the need for meticulous data management is essential, experience in an engineering field and/or a wider construction background is helpful, but not essential. The role will require undertaking a supporting commercial role on our Hinkley Point C project, supporting the Commercial and Project Controls functions. The role will include data collection and tracking to help deliver commercial functions, client/main contract activities as well as tracking of procurement activities and management of subcontractors. As such, the candidate will be expected to work on site on the HPC project with some accommodation for hybrid working to effectively execute the work.

Job Responsibility

  • Work with the Commercial Manager and Project Controls team support the delivery of the commercial function of the framework
  • Develop in person working relationships with Amentum, Client and Subcontract teams to effectively deliver contract requirements
  • Execution of NEC3 forms of contract activities including preparation of applications for payment, tracking pricing and implementation of change, supporting drafting of early warnings
  • Gathering evidence to support main contract applications and fulfilling contract audit requirements
  • Provide support for Project Controls and Cost Engineers in order to submit cost reports for review by the Commercial Manager, to enable the utilisation of the data for cost forecasts, revenue, and gross margin assumptions/submissions
  • Ensure Sub-Contract arrangements are put in place when required using the NEC suite of Contract Documents
  • Ensure correct administrative processes are put in place for management of these Sub-Contracts paying attention to change controls, early warning, compensation events, changes to scope of works and payment

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar related subject
  • Some previous Quantity Surveying or Commercial Contract Management work experience
  • Working knowledge of Construction Contracts, ideally with specific focus on the NEC forms of contract
  • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate confidently and work well under pressure
  • Hands on with a can-do attitude and excellent work ethic and the ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • Locally based or willing to be based on site
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programmes and general competence with IT
  • Candidate must have the right to work in the UK
  • Security Cleared or the ability to obtain the required level of clearance

Nice to have

Experience in an engineering field and/or a wider construction background is helpful, but not essential
