Job Description:

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will take full ownership of the commercial delivery of multi-utility projects – ensuring they are delivered within budget, on time, and in accordance with contractual obligations. This is a key role focused on cost control, contract administration, and supporting the wider project and commercial team.

Job Responsibility:

Prepare and manage budgets, cost estimates, and project P&L reports (weekly/monthly)
Monitor project financials and ensure delivery to cost and schedule
Administer contracts and manage variations, including client negotiation and follow-up to payment
Work closely with project teams, engineers, and clients to ensure compliance with specifications, safety, and quality standards
Provide commercial input on pricing for non-standard works and support estimating/design teams
Conduct site visits to monitor progress and resolve commercial or financial issues
Analyse operational performance vs. margin expectations and address discrepancies
Offer commercial risk advice and ensure compliance with contract law and procurement processes

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in utilities, construction, or infrastructure
Strong commercial acumen and understanding of UK contract law and procurement processes
Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar
RICS/CIOB membership (desirable but not essential)
