Job Description

At Dornan we are currently recruiting for Quantity Surveyors to work our commercial team working on projects up to £150,000,000 in the London area.

Job Responsibility

  • Work collaboratively as part of the team and develop knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Take ownership of assigned work scopes and complete tasks professionally
  • Measure from drawings/isometrics to produce detailed, priced bills of quantities including labour and materials
  • Track project costs, labour hours, and earned‑value progress
  • Prepare full construction take‑offs, cost plans, and monitor cost and labour efficiency throughout the project
  • Present take‑offs clearly and in line with NRM2 requirements
  • Submit accurate monthly CCS, valuations, and certification
  • Prepare timely assessments, payment certificates, and pay‑less notices for subcontractors in line with Construction Act requirements
  • Produce monthly cash flow forecasts and ensure final accounts are agreed on time
  • Protect the company from exposure to third‑party claims
  • Prepare and manage subcontract packages through to final account
  • Develop a strong understanding of assigned tasks and how they support project delivery
  • Work towards RICS competencies and seek guidance from the Senior QS
  • Pursue continuous improvement by taking on new tasks or shadowing team members
  • Request regular feedback to support development
  • Actively seek CPD opportunities across QS and M&E disciplines (e.g., BISRA) and complete at least 5 days of CPD annually
