Quantity Surveyor (Repairs & Maintenance / Social Housing / PFI) supporting a major public-sector social housing repairs & maintenance contract across Oldham and surrounding areas. This is a long-term opportunity on a stable framework, ideal for QS professionals with experience in repairs, maintenance, planned works, or PFI-style environments, working to Schedules of Rates and managing high-volume subcontract packages. The roles are predominantly site-based initially, with hybrid working considered once site familiarity is established. Role Overview: You’ll be responsible for the commercial management of live housing works, supporting operational teams and ensuring strong cost control, supplier management, and financial governance across the contract. This is a hands-on role working closely with site managers, suppliers, and client representatives to keep delivery running smoothly and commercially compliant.
Job Responsibility:
Commercial management of repairs & maintenance works across multiple sites
Working to Schedules of Rates (SoR)
Subcontractor and supplier liaison, procurement, and performance management
Administration and agreement of valuations, applications, and final accounts
Cost forecasting, budget control, and financial reporting
Managing variations, change control, and cost recovery
Supporting month-end and client reporting processes
Working closely with FM and operational delivery teams
Ensuring compliance with public-sector and framework requirements
Use of commercial and procurement systems to manage workflows
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within FM, repairs & maintenance, or construction
Strong understanding of social housing or public-sector contracts
Experience working to Schedules of Rates
Confident managing suppliers and subcontractors
Able to work in fast-paced, high-volume operational environments
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Nice to have:
Experience on PFI or long-term public-sector frameworks
Familiarity with eVision or similar commercial systems
Previous experience on housing maintenance or lifecycle programmes
