Job Description

An established regional civil engineering contractor based in Leeds is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis. This contractor has a strong reputation across Yorkshire, delivering a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects including highways, groundworks, utilities, and general civils. With a healthy pipeline of secured work, they are expanding their commercial team. As Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will work closely with project managers and site teams, ensuring strong cost control and commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Responsibility

  • Full commercial management of civil engineering projects
  • Cost reporting, forecasting, and budget control
  • Valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
  • Subcontractor procurement, management, and payments
  • Managing variations, change control, and commercial risk
  • Contract administration (NEC experience preferred)
  • Supporting project delivery teams on commercial matters
  • Mentoring junior staff (Senior QS level)

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Experience working for a civil engineering contractor
  • Background in highways, infrastructure, utilities, groundworks, or general civils
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
  • NEC contract experience advantageous
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Full UK driving licence
