Job Description

A medium-sized international Construction & Property Consultancy is seeking a highly ambitious, client-facing Director from a Quantity Surveying background to elevate their London office. The role involves leadership, business development, and diversification of the company’s portfolio.

Job Responsibility

  • Strategic business development – building client relationships, identifying and opening up new sectors
  • Helping diversify the business away from its healthcare/education heavy portfolio and into new, commercially viable markets
  • Leadership of a team across various locations – fostering collaboration without micromanagement

Requirements

  • MRICS
  • A strong Quantity Surveying background in UK Consultancy environments
  • A strong background in Business Development, Work Winning & a network of contacts that can be nurtured
  • Property / Real Estate sector background
  • Excellent pre and post contract experience & a successful track record leading projects

Nice to have

  • Strength in other sectors such as Commercial, Private Residential, or beyond
  • A fresh network, new ideas, or a different specialism to complement the team

  • Supervising, managing and advising on the financial and contractual aspects of multiple construction projects
  • Taking responsibility for the execution of the Quantity Surveying function on allocated contract/s, in order to fulfil the requirements of the Company in maximising quality of service and profitability
  • Providing a range of cost control and financial reporting duties across all aspects of construction work undertaken by the company
  • Working closely with other departments, including Land, Development and Construction, you will attend design meetings to advise on all areas that may have a cost implication
  • Recognising and advise Site Managers on delays, extensions of time and loss and/or expense and ensuring relevant notices are issued
  • Attending development meetings when appropriate, contract pre-start and subcontract package review meetings
  • Upon receipt of Contract Documentation, being responsible for checking all contract drawings to identify errors, omissions, anomalies and areas where unnecessary cost may arise
  • Receiving initial tender information and assist in the preparation of the proposed tender lists and updating of subsequent procurement programmes
  • Distributing design information packages and tender drawings, whilst preparing all tender documentation and letters including carrying out preliminary checks on subcontractors
  • Preparing construction cost analysis, which includes analysis of quotations resulting from the tender enquiry, requesting additional and outstanding information as required
