Join MBM as a Quantity Surveyor – Expert Witness. Are you a detail-driven Quantity Surveyor with a sharp analytical mind and an interest in construction disputes? We're looking for an experienced QS to join our growing Expert Witness team, supporting high-profile legal and dispute resolution matters across the construction industry. This is a unique opportunity to step into the specialist world of expert reports, legal proceedings, and complex claim assessments — backed by a strong support network and ongoing professional development.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare Expert Reports: Develop well-structured, impartial expert cost reports and written opinions used in legal proceedings, arbitration, or mediation
  • Analyse Construction Claims: Assess and quantify defects, delays, variations, and contractual claims with precision and clarity
  • Interpret Technical Documentation: Review and analyse drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical reports to extract key insights relevant to disputes
  • Collaborate with Experts and Legal Teams: Work closely with senior expert witnesses, legal counsel, barristers, engineers, and other professionals involved in complex cases
  • Support Dispute Resolution Processes: Assist in preparing joint expert reports, participating in expert conclaves, and supporting appearances in court, tribunals, or arbitration hearings
  • Ensure Quality and Compliance: Uphold MBM’s high standards for quality assurance, confidentiality, and professional integrity in all reporting and communication
  • Manage Your Workflow: Take ownership of assignments, manage your time effectively, and deliver accurate outputs within tight legal deadlines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or a related field
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in Australia as a client-side Quantity Surveyor
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • High-level reading comprehension and ability to interpret technical documentation
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Confident communicator with legal and technical professionals
  • Professional, impartial, and structured approach to reporting
  • Strong time management and ability to work to deadlines
