Astrion has an exciting opportunity for Quality/Safety Specialist. The Quality/Safety Specialist will support enterprise quality and safety functions within the Operations Excellence Team. The role monitors compliance and engages in continuous improvement activities across the Astrion enterprise. This role assists the enterprise quality lead with developing enterprise policies and procedures, conducting internal and external audits, analyzing quality data, identifying process improvements, and ensuring corporate compliance to applicable quality standards including AS9100/ISO9001, CMMI Level 3 Services and Development, and ISO 27001. In addition, the role assists the enterprise safety lead with monitoring safety incidents, maintaining safety reports, and managing the improvement of safety policies and procedures across the enterprise. The ideal candidate possesses foundational knowledge of quality management principles and standards, as well as some experience supporting safety programs, inspections, and compliance activities.
Job Responsibility
Support quality assurance and compliance activities across assigned projects or operations.
Assist with quality audits, inspections, and assessments.
Collect, analyze, and report quality and safety performance metrics.
Document findings, nonconformances, and corrective actions.
Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Review procedures and records to ensure compliance with established standards.
Support safety inspections, hazard identification, and risk mitigation efforts.
Assist in maintaining quality and safety documentation and records.
Collaborate with stakeholders to improve process effectiveness and compliance.
Contribute to training and awareness activities related to quality and safety programs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Safety, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Business, or a related field
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
1–3 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, process improvement, safety, compliance, manufacturing, engineering support, or a related field.
Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to support quality or safety initiatives.
Knowledge of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Basic understanding of safety regulations, workplace safety programs, and risk mitigation practices.
Ability to review procedures, records, and documentation for compliance and accuracy.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearance, if applicable
Nice to have
Coursework or training in Quality Assurance, Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, Safety Management Systems, or Regulatory Compliance
Experience supporting quality management systems (QMS) and/or occupational safety programs
Experience participating in audits, inspections, root cause analyses, or corrective action processes
Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 27001, OSHA standards, or other applicable quality and safety frameworks
Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or equivalent continuous improvement training
Experience with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes
Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram)
Experience using quality management, audit, or data analysis software tools
Familiarity with risk assessment and hazard identification methodologies
Experience preparing audit reports, metrics dashboards, and performance summaries
Professional certifications such as: CMMI Associate/Practitioner, AS9100 Internal Auditor Training, OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Training, First Aid/CPR/AED
