We’re hiring for a Quality Mechanical Inspector Level 2 position in Long Beach, CA. This is a Part-Time or Full-time opportunity, working the 2nd shift. Job Responsibility:
Hand tool set ups to get through receiving inspection
Supporting the Receiving department to reduce a backlog of machined rocket parts and associated documentation
Perform detailed inspections—visual, dimensional, and physical—on components, assemblies, and raw materials throughout various production phases (including in-process, final, and first article) to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications
Operate and utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, height gauges, and profilometers to validate part conformity
Conduct surface plate inspections and statistical lot sampling based on quality requirements
Apply sharp visual inspection skills to identify workmanship issues and product defects, including damage such as burrs, scratches, loose fasteners, dings, and inadequate edge distances
Identify and categorize nonconformities and confirm that corrective actions or rework have been properly executed
Examine and approve First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, traceable, and compliant with applicable standards
Audit and confirm the integrity of supporting documentation to ensure alignment with industry and commodity-specific quality requirements
Cross-check shipping documentation for accuracy, confirming part numbers, serial numbers, change notices, and final destination data are correct
Requirements:
3+ years of hands-on experience with precision mechanical parts inspection
Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and industry/commodity standards
Proficient in GD&T and validating dimensions (tolerances ≥.005”) using hand tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges)
Experience with certificates of conformance and inspection documentation
Ability to adapt to new technology and software
Excellent visual acuity to detect defects in complex products
