This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America. You will be responsible for the end-to-end quality lifecycle of our aircraft, ensuring total compliance with FAA and EASA regulations.
Job Responsibility:
Execute detailed inspections across aircraft systems
Approve or reject incoming materials
Utilize precision aids and devices to determine specification limits
Certify that helicopters are safe, compliant, and ready for the sky
Perform required technical inspections to receive or reject incoming material, airframes, aircraft components
Perform in-process inspections for components in electrical backshops, manufacturing, composites, MRO and paint shop
Perform detailed inspections of manufactured components
Inspect aircraft structures for cracks, corrosion, damage and improper assembly
Determine proper shimming and joining of structures
Detect hidden damage during inspections
Verify build of aircraft system wiring harnesses, connectors and electrical terminations
Physically and systematically quarantine non-conforming components
Monitor the use of Measuring and Test Equipment
Perform stock inspections/purges
Evaluate and disposition sales returns
Select product samples and check them using appropriate methods
Accomplish in-process and final quality inspections
Perform conformity inspections for Supplemental Type Certificated (STC) development projects
Inspect multiple airframe components to determine proper fit, form and function
Validate disposition of parts or repaired parts
Qualify dynamic component parts applying visual inspection and precision measurement methods
Observe and validate instrument connections, functional or operational tests
Ensure compliance with all applicable calendar/hourly inspections, life limited or cycle limited components, airworthiness directives and alert service bulletins
Verification of testing for emergency locator transmitters (ELT), Transponders, Altimeters, Airspeed Indicators and Air Data Computers
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Current/Valid FAA Airframe & Power Plant License
4 years of quality inspection on aircraft components and systems --or-- 6 years as an aviation maintenance technician (AMT) on aircraft components and systems
Ability to interpret technical and regulatory documentation
Familiar with inspection tools, aids and devices used in determining tolerances and specification limits
Part 145 Repair Station experience
Nice to have:
Proficiency in French, German or Spanish
FAA Inspection Authorization (IA)
FCC 2nd Class License
Non Destructive Inspection (NDI) Certificate
Minimum 6 years or equivalent diversified experience on Airbus Helicopters products as either a certificated AMT or quality inspector
