Job Description:

The Quality Front Line Manager will act as the first point of contact within the Technical function, working closely with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure products meet quality and food safety standards. You will carry out routine quality assurance testing and process monitoring, ensuring accurate feedback is provided to management teams and that all products comply with agreed specifications. You will participate in GMP and other relevant audits, record checks as outlined in the Quality Manual, and take prompt action to address any non-conformances, supporting the continuous improvement of site standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Take ownership of food safety and quality performance on site, managing incidents, concessions, and non-compliances
  • Lead investigations to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure full resolution
  • Conduct regular internal audits covering hygiene, GMP, allergen management, documentation, and CCPs
  • Lead traceability exercises, confidently presenting findings during customer and third-party audits
  • Carrying out environmental and product testing (micro, allergen, nutritional, aW, pH, etc.) and reporting results accurately
  • Managing calibration and verification processes for scales, probes, and temperature controls
  • Overseeing retained sample stock, daily product quality evaluations, and end-of-life checks
  • Investigating customer complaints to root cause and uploading corrective actions via Qadex
  • Supporting export processes, liaising with the supply chain and site veterinary teams
  • Maintaining BRC certification, customer codes of practice, and the site Quality Management System
  • Collaborating with Operations, Hygiene, and Supply Chain to identify opportunities for improvement

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene and Level 2 HACCP qualified
  • Trained Internal Auditor with experience in GMP environments
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and quality data management
  • Broad experience in the food industry, ideally bakery manufacturing
  • Strong awareness of allergen controls and compliance standards
  • Proven track record in continuous improvement and completing complaint investigations
  • Excellent teamworking, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Well-organised with strong planning and time management abilities
