Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will be providing quality assurance and quality control support and expertise to infrastructure projects for a major client within the Defence Infrastructure sector. You will be working within a joint project team made up of personnel from different companies and their supply chains, all working to support right first-time delivery.
Job Responsibility:
Provide quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) support and expertise to the site EHJ Project Team to support right first-time delivery
Foster a site quality presence at site to develop good working relationships with Suppliers / Site Stakeholders
Support the identification and flow-down of MoD Client quality requirements to the supply chain
Work collaboratively with quality peers internally and Suppliers to ensure that all learning from experience (LFE) is captured, shared and incorporated into future works / shared across all aspects of the Infrastructure Programme
Support the Project Management and Functional Leads in establishing the necessary project procedures, processes and plans to meet Coulport requirements
Review enquiry, tender and contract documentation (e.g. ITP’s, Quality Plans, Specifications) with respect to quality requirements and Client specific contract specifications
Regular attendance at site meetings
Conducting internal quality and supplier audits / health checks in accordance with the agreed audit schedule to verify compliance with procedures and identify process improvements
Monitoring quality performance against any agreed KPIs / criteria and identify areas of concern
Monitoring product quality verification activities including surveillance of Supplier site installation / manufacturing, Factory & Site Acceptance Tests, Release Inspections to ensure products and services comply with contractual requirements
Supporting the capture and tracking of quality-related risks and opportunities, non-conformances (NCR’s) and Defect Notifications
Conducting quality investigations, root cause analysis, internal process performance improvement activities and supplier escalation or intervention
Working with key project functions to specify Lifetime Quality Records content and coordinate the collation, review and approval of final document packs by Suppliers
Proactively liaise with any Third-Party representatives and Government Quality Assurance Representatives (GQAR) where required
Requirements:
Hold a relevant HNC (i.e., Level 4 or higher) qualification in an engineering discipline, or demonstrate equivalent experience
Full understanding and implementation of quality management systems (ISO 9001:2015)
Demonstrable experience in quality engineering roles gained from involvement with multiple projects and domains
SC Clearance (or ability to gain prior to commencing employment)
Industry recognised auditor qualification e.g. ISO 9001 Lead / Internal
Nice to have:
Associated professional membership in an appropriate discipline (e.g. CQI / IRCA)
Industry recognised NDE (Non-Destructive Engineering / NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) qualification e.g. PCN/CSWIP)
