We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team in Leicester. Working within a highly specialised manufacturing environment serving demanding automotive and high-performance engineering sectors, you will play a key role in ensuring our products consistently meet the highest quality standards and customer expectations.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead investigations into internal and external quality concerns using structured problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis tools
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues and improve process capability
  • Monitor and analyse quality performance metrics, including scrap, rework, yield, customer complaints, and non-conformances
  • Support production teams in resolving manufacturing quality issues and ensuring timely containment actions
  • Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings and customer specifications
  • Maintain and manage calibration systems for inspection and measurement equipment
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits, ensuring compliance with quality management systems and customer-specific requirements
  • Assist with supplier quality activities, including supplier assessments, investigations, and performance monitoring
  • Review manufacturing documentation, route cards, and quality records to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Deliver quality-related training and guidance to production personnel to promote best practice and right-first-time manufacturing
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving process stability, and enhancing product quality
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of quality standards, procedures, and work instructions

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance, or Quality Inspection role within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 9001
  • knowledge of IATF 16949, AS9100, or equivalent standards would be advantageous
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and customer specifications
  • Competent in the use of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, gauges, and CMM reports
  • Proven problem-solving skills with experience using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, or PFMEA
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify improvement opportunities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • experience using ERP/MRP systems is desirable
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within a production environment

Nice to have

  • knowledge of IATF 16949, AS9100, or equivalent standards would be advantageous
  • experience using ERP/MRP systems is desirable
