The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing inspections, testing, and quality checks on incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with company standards and customer specifications. This role supports manufacturing and operations by identifying non-conformities, documenting findings, and maintaining records in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. The Quality Control Technician will be relied upon to perform duties either on site at OnQ or sites at Midwest local Supplier operations.
Job Responsibility:
Manage the QC process and drive continuous improvement by utilizing lean techniques.
Develop and maintain a production traceability program that will enable tracking of production by day and line.
QC audit production for all first and last pieces of production while periodically inspecting goods throughout the process.
Prepare and post all QC documents to shared network.
Implement and maintain Corrective Action Response (CAR) for any identified quality issues.
Oversee the schedule of recurring audits for shipping, receiving and fulfillment activities and create quality control metrics for each department.
Work closely with graphics, engineering, shipping, receiving, fulfillment and production departments to drive the QC process.
Effectively communicate with all levels of management
Action OnQ QC processes as well as develop and implement new processes.
Assist with the development and implementation of high priority programs as needed.
Analyze departmental processes and identify areas for improvement.
Develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline operations.
Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall operations.
Identify process improvements and document processes related to receiving, shipping and distribution.
Communicate inspection results to production and quality teams promptly.
Communicate effectively with all levels of management.
Provide required reporting to meet quality standards
Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests and findings.
Requirements:
5+ years of proven QC experience in the manufacturing sector
College degree or equivalent work experience - Relevant educational background, preferably in the field of manufacturing
Experienced in physical warehouse activities as it pertains to the manufacturing of products.
Understanding of common product warehousing, inventory and shipping practices.
Experience with managing contract manufacturers including purchasing, receiving, packing and shipping activities.
Working knowledge of QA and QC practices common to product manufacturing.
Knowledge of manufacturing methods particular to Printed materials, plastics, woodworking and machined and fabricated metal processes.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines consistently.
Willing to help in all areas on the production floor and other depts.
Work well within a team.
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
Able to work in environments with varying temperatures.
May be called upon to travel to third party pack out partners or vendors to QC items and kits being made for OnQ.
