The QC Inspector is responsible for performing types of inspection as assigned within the plant including gauge and instrument inspection of materials goods in process and finished product.
Job Responsibility:
Understands and complies with position related safety, SOPs, and work instructions especially for Lockout-Tagout, Chemical Handling, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, ISO, and Personal Protective Equipment
Monitors the production process at prescribed intervals to inspect the process product characteristics according to established quality control procedures
Inspect in-process and finished product with the use of prescribed laboratory equipment, gauges, and instruments and compares the results to the established specifications
Expected to read and record various process data into prescribed forms or charts
Verify through inspection and tests, the adherence to established specification of incoming materials, in-process product, and finished product including packaging
Generate action which will prevent the use of materials in the process that do not meet and conform to established specifications or have not been approved for usage
Verify that only approved materials, labels etc. are used in the process
Expected to inform maintainers and supervisors of specific quality problems and suggest possible causes or facts which will aid in their corrections and assist production personnel whenever possible
Perform routine checks and maintain test equipment through preventive maintenance programs prescribed by the Quality Control dept
Maintain work area clean and orderly
Direct and assist in sorting segregated and questionable material that is out of specifications and perform detailed visual inspection where considerable judgment is required to determine quality of product and limits are not clearly defined
Examine product, remove defectives, and place acceptable product back into line
Record related data as required
Maintain color standards and prepare run standards
Perform gauge maintenance, gauge verifications, gauge R and R
Validate printer changeovers and label changes
Ensure standards are in place and can meets requirements
Validate date codes and UPC
Perform camera and light tester verification, including making test cans and finding HFI cutoffs
Perform resampling and product segregation
Perform additional quality checks as required or directed and internal audits of quality checks
Operate equipment and assist production as directed
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
A passing score on a combined basic skills assessment, given at the facility
Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment, hand tools, and proper handling of chemicals and solvent
Ability to use and understand gauges and measurement tools
Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred minimum 1+ years’ experience in a quality role
