Emcon Services Inc. is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Quality Assurance Supervisor (QAS) for the Kicking Horse Canyon (KHC) Highway Improvement Project in Golden, British Columbia. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified professional with demonstrated experience in road and bridge maintenance and construction to play a key role in one of British Columbia’s most significant highway infrastructure projects. As Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will work closely with our Senior Management Team to inspect and identify work and processes, measure for quality, and examine compliance with contractual and company standards. The successful candidate will also participate in site supervision and inspections, project cost-control, and costing analysis.
Job Responsibility:
Conducting QC/QA inspections of in-process works and end-product inspections to ensure quality aspects of the work have met contract, statutory, regulatory and quality standards
Assist the area in meeting documentation deliverables for submission throughout the year to the MoTI
Supply technical and quality information to the divisional Road Superintendents and crews in advance of works being performed to ensure quality-related requirements are determined
Assist with road inspections to identify road deficiencies and work programs
Work both outdoors (in all weather conditions) and indoors (in an office setting) and travel within the service area on a regular basis using a company-provided vehicle
Overseeing and training staff in Quality Management Systems and work reporting
Apply above-average analytical and organizational skills to complete reports and documentation
Develop and maintain positive working relationships in a large and complex network, demonstrating flexibility in a dynamic project environment
Participate in the planning, scheduling and implementation of seasonal plan activities, as well as routine maintenance activities
Reconciliation of monthly budget to actual and monitoring completion of the seasonal plan
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline
Minimum 2–5 years of direct experience in road and bridge maintenance and/or construction, preferably in a BC highway maintenance or improvement project context
Demonstrated knowledge of road and bridge construction methods, materials, and specifications
Familiarity with BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) standards and contractual requirements
Auditor experience with preference to ISO 9001 Auditor Certification and/or BCCSA Internal Auditor Certification
Supervisory and/or Management Skills Training
Familiarity with the application of the ISO 9001 Standard
Familiarity with the application of Quality, Environmental and Safety Management Systems
Health and Safety experience including hazard recognition, risk assessments, and toolbox meetings
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other associated Office Software Platforms
Above-average analytical and organizational skills needed for the completion of reports and documentation
Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5) and a positive driving record
