Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Quality Assurance Engineer 4 #3186 (3805) in Los Alamos, NM. Navarro Research & Engineering is an award-winning federal contractor dedicated to partnering with clients to advance clean energy and deliver effective solutions for complex challenges in the nuclear and environmental fields.

Job Responsibility:

  • Guides the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures and applications contributing to the overall objectives of maintaining an effective quality program
  • Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories
  • Works on unusually significant, unique or complex issues
  • Provides solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles
  • Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups, and other key decision makers
  • Regular contacts with other resources internal and external to the organization
  • Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets
  • Assignments are often self-initiated
  • Uses independent judgment for determining course of action to accomplish objectives
  • Uses wide latitude in the methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

Requirements:

  • BS/MS degree in engineering, quality assurance, industrial systems engineering, or related field and a minimum of 12 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge in application of welding and mechanical inspection skills, typically 12 years with nuclear and/or DOE QE program experience preferred
  • Expert ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics
  • Expert level knowledge of construction codes and standards, and applying quality requirements to construction projects, where applicable
  • Understanding of project management methodologies and applying quality requirements to projects being managed through a formal project management process
  • US citizenship is required

Nice to have:

  • Working knowledge and experience with DOE QC programs of more than 3 years
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship certification program
  • Additional relevant education and/or certification in a related field and/or current relevant professional certification
  • Experience performing measurements using Romer/Faro
  • Experience with helium leak testing
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (especially Outlook, Word, and Excel), and Adobe
  • Active DOE Q Clearance and Active HRP status preferred

  • Prior to large feature or product releases, collaborate closely with product teams to plan and implement thorough testing
  • Analyze common bugs found through QA processes and work with software and frontend devs to address them in earlier phases of the development process
  • Act as a mentor and lead by example, demonstrating effective testing, communication and ticket management techniques
