As an Quality Assurance Coordinator within PPG's Aerospace Business, you will help support the design, production, and sustainment of advanced aerospace transparency products—including windshields, windows, and canopies. You will apply quality science throughout the entire product lifecycle to ensure full compliance with AS9100, FAA regulations, and customer requirements. You will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer teams to lead product and process conformance, lead root cause analysis, and promote continuous improvement projects across the organization. You will sit onsite at our Sylmar, CA facility. You will report to the Senior Site Quality Manager.
Job Responsibility
Ensure quality and regulatory requirements are communicated and flowed down to Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams
Lead Integrated Product Team (IPT) quality compliance activities from early design through production and sustainment
Complete Root Cause, Corrective, and Preventive Action (RCCA) processes and validate the effectiveness of implemented actions
Review, assess, and disposition nonconformances related to transparency manufacturing, including optical performance defects
Contribute to the creation and ongoing maintenance of PFMEAs, control plans, and inspection plans to support process control
Conduct product and process audits to verify adherence to AS9100 and customer specific quality standards
Support FAA, PMA, and OEM approval processes, ensuring traceability, configuration control, and compliance documentation
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline preferred
2+ years of relevant experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering roles
Strong understanding of AS9100, FAA regulations, and core quality engineering tools (RCCA, SPC, MSA)
Demonstrated experience conducting technical reviews, interpreting engineering drawings, and managing configuration control
Experience analyzing process variation, interpret metrics, and apply data-driven methods to improve quality performance
Collaborator with experience working on teams and engaging directly with customers
Familiarity with aerospace transparency materials and associated optical performance standards preferred

Professional certifications such as CQE, AS9102, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or equivalent preferred
