This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Job Responsibility:
Apply knowledge of quality policies and practices to develop, document, and maintain quality systems and operating procedures
Develop and administer directives, policies, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements to assure quality system compliance
Apply knowledge of quality policies and governmental regulations to develop and administer long-range customer inspection plans, acting as agent/designee for customer, to meet contractual and other requirements
Ability to plan and coordinate improvements in manufacturing (e.g. hardware and tool acceptance, variability reduction, developing key suppliers, and assembly operations, etc.)
Ability to perform design reviews to ensure that quality is engineered into the product and tool
Apply knowledge of engineering (e.g. manufacturing, tooling, quality, and statistics, etc.) to analyze requirements of contracts, drawings and specifications to develop plans for the application of quality disciplines to processes
Ability to perform configuration audits and reviews of products, tools, and processes
Ability to compile, measure and analyze process capability data, models to perform trend analyses and risk assessments
Skill in process improvement methodologies (i.e. root cause analysis) to plan and coordinate process improvements
Ability to ensure sequenced inspection control points, create and maintain inspection accountability systems
Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement preventative measures, corrective action, procedural changes, process improvements and present resultant findings
Provide education and coaching on the Quality Management System and Manufacturing Verification Process
Requirements:
6-9 years of experience in a quality discipline, preferably in inspection, aerospace, or manufacturing
Microsoft office skills intermediate in Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to read, understand, and communicate Policy, Procedures, and Specifications
Interpret drawings and communicate details
Time Management with ability to prioritize multiple assignments at one time
Organizational skills pulling data from multiple sources and combining for daily tracking
Communicate effectively within and outside of group
Must be able to walk to and from different buildings and stand for multiple hours
Inspection background with extensive knowledge with quality requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Nice to have:
Proficiency in defect identification, non-conformance data analysis, and thorough documentation skills
Functional experience in First Article Inspection (FAI) utilizing Net-Inspect
Experience with SAP/MES systems and proficiency in Smartsheets and Tableau software platforms
