Job Description:

We have an excellent opportunity to join Redcar Council's Safeguarding Locality Team at a competitive rate of £31.74 per hour. Redcar Council is dedicated to providing robust safeguarding services to its community. As part of our Safeguarding Locality Team, you'll be instrumental in protecting vulnerable children, working within a supportive and collaborative environment that champions best practice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Managing a complex caseload of children and families who are subject to child protection plans, child in need plans, or pre-proceedings
  • Undertaking comprehensive assessments, including single assessments and section 47 enquiries, to identify risk, need, and strengths within families
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing robust child protection and child in need plans in partnership with children, families, and multi-agency professionals
  • Leading and actively participating in child protection conferences, core group meetings, and other multi-agency forums, ensuring the child's voice is central to all decision-making
  • Initiating and progressing pre-proceedings and care proceedings when necessary, preparing accurate and timely court reports and statements
  • Undertaking direct work with children and families, building meaningful relationships, promoting resilience, and facilitating positive change
  • Working collaboratively with a range of partners, including health, education, police, and voluntary sector organisations, to ensure integrated support
  • Maintaining accurate, analytical, and up-to-date case records in line with statutory requirements and Redcar Council's policies
  • Providing clear, professional advice and guidance to families and other professionals regarding safeguarding concerns and child protection processes
  • Participating in duty rotas as required by the service
  • Adhering to all relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and local policies to ensure high standards of practice and child safety

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with a degree in Social Work or equivalent
  • Social Work England registration is essential and must be current
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role
