Job Description:

We have a fantastic Locum Social Work opportunity based within a Permanence team in the Wirral area. This is a unique role for a practitioner who thrives on continuity, managing cases from the initial assessment through to CP, PLO, and Court proceedings. You will be part of a supportive environment dedicated to delivering the best possible service to families.

Job Responsibility:

  • Undertaking Section 17 assessments and high-level Section 47 child protection enquiries
  • Managing a complex caseload including Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) plans
  • Leading on the Public Law Outline (PLO) process, including drafting legal gatekeeping papers and attending meetings
  • Managing Care Proceedings, writing witness statements, and providing evidence in court
  • Driving cases toward permanence, ensuring timely outcomes for children via reunification, SGO, or long-term care
  • Maintaining strong, multi-agency relationships with partner agencies to ensure holistic support

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience working within a frontline CIN/CP or Court team
  • Strong knowledge of the Public Law Outline and court processes
  • Social Work England registered
  • BSc Social Work or equivalent
  • The ability to work well individually and within a high-paced team
