Job Description:

We have a fantastic Locum Social Work Opportunity based within a Learning Disability Team in the Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester area. The local authority work in a strength-based approach using a model of applied behavioural science, alongside person centred approaches.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conduct needs assessments under the Care Act 2014 to determine support requirements
  • Work with service users, their families, and carers to ensure they receive appropriate support
  • Assist with accessing housing, employment, education, and community resources
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as a breakdown in care or safeguarding concerns
  • Work within the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) framework
  • Advocate for people's rights, ensuring their voice is heard in care decisions
  • Collaborate with health professionals, psychologists, occupational therapists, housing services, and advocacy groups

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Social Work
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Experience of working with people who have a learning disability
  • Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Best Interests experience
  • Risk management and multiagency working
  • 1-3 years experience of working within a similar social work setting
