Job Description:

The Family Assessment Social Worker will play a critical role in Lincolnshire Council, providing essential support and expertise to assess and evaluate the needs of families requiring assistance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of families referred to the service, taking into consideration the unique circumstances and challenges they face
  • Collaborate with families to develop comprehensive care plans that address identified needs and promote the well-being of children and adults involved
  • Conduct home visits and interviews to gather accurate information about family dynamics, relationships, living conditions, and other relevant factors
  • Work within legal frameworks and guidelines to ensure the safety and welfare of children and vulnerable adults
  • Liaise with other professionals, such as medical practitioners, therapists, and educators, to gather input and ensure a holistic assessment approach
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, documenting assessments, interventions, and progress over time
  • Attend case conferences, court hearings, and other relevant meetings as required
  • Provide support, guidance, and practical assistance to families to help them implement care plans effectively
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other agencies to ensure a coordinated and multi-disciplinary approach to family support

Requirements:

  • A recognized social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
  • Proven experience in conducting family assessments, preferably within a local authority setting
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection and family welfare
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and build rapport with diverse individuals and families
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions based on thorough assessments and analysis
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry best practices
