We are seeking a high-caliber Qualified Social Worker to join a fast-paced Duty and Assessment Team covering the Central Lancs region, based out of Preston. Operating at the very front door of children's services, you will be the first line of response for families and children in need of immediate support and protection. Job Responsibility

  • Initial Assessments: Conducting comprehensive, child-centric statutory assessments under Section 17 and Section 47 of the Children Act
  • Crisis Triage: Rapidly evaluating incoming referrals from schools, health professionals, and the public to determine the appropriate level of intervention
  • Safeguarding Action: Implementing immediate safety plans for children at risk, escalating matters to long-term teams or initiating legal proceedings when required
  • Collaborative Liaison: Working hand-in-hand with multi-agency partners to ensure a cohesive approach to immediate family distress

Requirements

  • at least three years' experience in a permanent post within a UK local authority
  • not have held a permanent or fixed-term contract directly with a local authority within the last 12 weeks
  • possess a recognized Social Work degree
  • hold active registration with Social Work England
