Job Description

We are seeking for a skilled, empathetic QA Team Manager to lead our Manual QA team at Emplifi. This role is about building strong testing practices and ownership, not running a centralized test factory or acting as a release gate. You will lead a group of experienced manual QAs embedded in software development teams, helping them evolve test strategy, exploratory testing, and risk-based quality practices in close collaboration with Engineering and Product. As a leader, you will shape how quality is understood, communicated, and delivered across the organization. You will balance people leadership with quality ownership—ensuring teams feel supported, empowered, and accountable for product excellence.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and support a team of Manual QAs across multiple software development teams
  • Establish clear expectations around quality ownership, testing standards, and release readiness
  • Champion risk-based testing and exploratory practices aligned with product goals
  • Foster a psychologically safe environment where quality concerns are raised early and constructively
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and performance conversations
  • Set growth goals and mentor QA engineers through career development
  • Facilitate problem-solving and decision-making, guiding the team through challenges
  • Support hiring processes and ensure smooth onboarding of new QA team members
  • Partner closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and Customer Support
  • Coordinate with the QA Automation team to ensure manual testing, automation efforts, and quality risks are aligned and complementary
  • Act as a trusted quality voice in planning, refinement, and release discussions
  • Align QA activities with broader engineering and product priorities
  • Participate in QA and engineering leadership forums to identify risks and improvements
  • Own quality readiness for releases across assigned product areas
  • Ensure predictable testing execution aligned with sprint and release cycles
  • Track and communicate quality signals (risks, coverage gaps, trends)
  • Continuously improve QA processes to reduce late surprises and rework
  • Lead by example to foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture
  • Address team conflicts with empathy and resolve issues constructively
  • Promote transparency in communication, planning, and progress tracking

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading QA or testing teams in an agile environment
  • Strong understanding of manual testing practices, exploratory testing, and test strategy
  • Experience coaching and mentoring QA professionals
  • Ability to communicate quality risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Passion for building inclusive, empowered, and high-trust teams
