Job Description

Airswift is seeking highly skilled and detail-oriented QA/QC Electrical Inspectors to oversee the quality and compliance of electrical installations on large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. This is an initial 1-year contract with two opportunities in Sycamore, OH and London, OH. This role works closely with the Construction Manager, civil and mechanical inspectors, and the Site Safety Supervisor to oversee contractor activities and ensure all work complies with applicable codes, project specifications, and design documents. The position is responsible for monitoring and reporting on daily installation progress, maintaining strong contractor relationships, and managing Requests for Information (RFIs) in a timely and accurate manner.

Job Responsibility

  • Conduct detailed inspections of electrical systems, including low, medium, and high-voltage equipment on solar and storage sites
  • Verify cable splicing, routing, labeling, and terminations are completed according to approved plans, specifications, and safety standards
  • Inspect and test fiber optic terminations and communication cabling for proper installation and functionality
  • Review and validate electrical drawings, one-lines, and as-builts for conformance with installation practices
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of conduit, cable trays, grounding systems, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and control panels
  • Collaborate with project managers, QA/QC teams, and contractors to identify and resolve deficiencies
  • Document all inspections with detailed reports, punch lists, and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, and applicable OSHA safety regulations
  • Witness and verify electrical testing, such as insulation resistance (megger), continuity, torqueing, and terminations
  • Support commissioning efforts by validating proper energization procedures and functional testing
  • Maintain inspection logs and participate in progress meetings as required

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical inspection and QA/QC for utility-scale solar industry
  • Solid experience as an owner’s representative with strong supervisory experience
  • Experience in utility scale solar electrical systems, including fiber installation techniques and all pre-functional and functional testing requirements
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and best practices (NEC, IEEE, NETA, IEC, etc.)

Nice to have

  • Experience with high-voltage substations and switchyards is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of, or prior hands-on experience with, upper-tier module manufacturers
  • DC collection system suppliers, integrators, and installation methods
