QA Database Engineer

Job Description

You are the ideal candidate if you are an excellent tester, an effective communicator, and feel comfortable interacting with stakeholders at various levels. You have a solid background in testing complex data projects, are motivated to contribute to our current Oracle-based reporting application, and are excited about the prospect of migrating and working with next-generation cloud data platforms.

Job Responsibility

  • Analyze business and technical requirements to gain a deep understanding of data flows and business logic
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of the overall Test Strategy and Test Plans, while taking ownership of defining specific test scenarios
  • Contribute to test effort estimation and proactively identify risks
  • Design, write, and maintain Test Cases to validate data integrity, transformation logic, and the accuracy of reporting outputs
  • Cover all aspects of testing, including functional, integration, regression, and End-to-End (E2E)
  • Create and manage the test data required to validate complex scenarios
  • Rigorously execute testing activities, analyze, and document the results in detail
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and document defects in JIRA, providing clear information for the development teams
  • Retest corrections to ensure defects are fully resolved
  • Coordinate testing activities with internal teams, third-party vendors, and business users (UAT Support)
  • Drive adherence to Deutsche Bank's testing standards and promote best practices within the team
  • Organize monthly demo sessions to present project status to stakeholders
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development and testing processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in software testing, with a demonstrated focus on data-centric projects
  • Solid technical experience with the data lifecycle for reporting
  • Database Testing Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience testing Oracle Databases
  • Data Integrity & Quality Validation: Verifying data accuracy, consistency, and correctness against business rules
  • Database Objects Testing: Testing stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views to ensure they function as expected
  • Source-to-Target Validation: Performing detailed checks to ensure data is transformed and loaded correctly into reporting tables
  • Advanced SQL: Excellent skills in writing complex queries not just for data extraction, but for validation, comparison, and anomaly detection
  • Proven experience with Agile methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent knowledge of testing techniques (Black Box, White Box, System, Integration, Regression)
  • Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools: HP ALM and JIRA
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with a pragmatic and delivery-focused attitude
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Customer and service-oriented, with the ability to build effective working relationships with all stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Experience in the financial services industry, with knowledge of Wealth Management or other financial products
  • Experience in coordinating UAT (User Acceptance Testing) activities
  • An openness and desire to learn and adapt to new technologies, specifically cloud data platforms, as we evolve our architecture
  • An interest in or basic knowledge of Test Automation and related tools
