Citi is seeking a highly motivated Python Developer (Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst – C12) to join the Wholesale Credit Risk Technology team supporting Institutional Credit Management (ICM). We are looking for a strong technical contributor who can collaborate effectively with onshore and offshore teams to design and deliver innovative technology solutions for the Front Office and Credit Risk business. This role will be a key part of the team responsible for implementing projects using Python, FastAPI, MCP, LLM technologies, Java, and other modern tools. This is an excellent opportunity to deepen expertise within the Wholesale Credit Risk organization and gain exposure to high-impact business and technology initiatives that help maintain Citi’s competitive leadership.
Job Responsibility:
Participate in tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, applications development, and model development
Contribute to the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas
Monitor and contribute to all phases of the development process, including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation
Provide user and operational support on applications to business users
Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business processes, system processes, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgments
Recommend and contribute to the development of security measures during post-implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality
Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and assist with customer exposure systems
Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining operating standards and processes
Serve as an advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts
Operate with a limited level of direct supervision
Exercise independence of judgment and autonomy in day-to-day tasks
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and/or other team members within their technical domain
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Requirements:
5+ years of hands-on experience building enterprise-scale, componentized applications using Python and FastAPI
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and other containerized platforms
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional development teams
Strong communication skills with the ability to report development progress to the Project Lead
Experience working with onshore, offshore, and matrixed teams to deliver business solutions
Ability to troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve potential defects and production support issues
Recent experience with modern Python development using Large Language Models (LLMs), Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture
Financial Services industry experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
